The fire from above…

In my reading, I studied 1 Kings 18, where Elijah called the prophets of Baal into a face-off. You know, God shows out when there is NO WAY that it could be anyone or anything but God. Nothing or no one will get the credit! When Elijah prepared the trench for God to send the fire, he even added water to negate any possibilities that this was done in his own will. He added the water because it was known for people at that time to have funnels at the bottom of the trench and the fire could come from the bottom, or from the ground up. Elijah added the water to further prove that the God of Israel is the only true and living God.

God gave me this analogy, there’s been times I’m sure when you’ve been under-qualified for a job or a promotion. It literally doesn’t make any sense for you to even apply for the job. The job requires 6 years of experience, and you have 1 year. The job requires a masters degree, and you have an associates degree. The job requires certifications, and you’ve only thought about buying the study materials for those certs… Just like when Elijah added the water, both situations are ideal for the move of God.

Lets do a recap, you know no one at the company, you’re under-qualified, and your competition checks off every requirement and qualification. You may even have some doubt, and ask yourself “Why am I even applying for this job?” When you get the job, God proves to you that he has total control, and I guarantee the first thing you’ll say is “That was nobody but God that opened that door!”

This is exactly what happened after Elijah prayed this prayer:

“Lord God of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel, let it be known this day that thou art God in Israel and that i am thy servant, and that I have done all these things at thy word. Hear me, O Lord, hear me that this people may know that thou art the Lord God, and thou hast turned their heart back again”

The fire fell from above and consumed the alter. On top of Elijah adding water to prove that he had nothing to do with the fire, God added to that proof by sending the fire from heaven! There is NO WAY the fire came from below. God is so good! At that point, the witnesses fell to the Earth proclaiming he is Lord.

Prayer:

Father, I pray that you give us wisdom and revelation on today. That if there are any mountains that need climbing or valleys that need crossing remind us that this is an opportunity to show that you are God. I ask that you come into these situations and allow the fire from heaven to fall! We promise to give your name the glory and will not keep the testimony to ourselves!
