There are so many benefits of having the Holy Spirit within you. In John 14, Jesus tells them how to receive the Holy Spirit, you can receive the Holy Spirit just by loving Jesus. Here’s the kicker, how can you prove your love to Jesus? By obeying his commands. We see this in everyday life, you say you value me but you don’t show it. You tell me you love me all the time but there’s no action. Bill Cosby said it best, “the proof is in the pudding”
So the equation is simple Love Jesus + Keep his commands = the gift of the Holy Spirit.
In my study of the Holy Spirit, things have stood out to me for sure! When Jesus was telling his disciples that he had to leave, I’m sure they were devasted. His response is, it’s okay I’m sending you something even better. I’m going to live within you! All you have to do is love me and keep my commands.
So because we Love Jesus and obey his teaching God the father will love us and God and Jesus both will make their home in us… MIND BLOWN. So because the Holy Spirit will live in us which is actually God the father and Jesus, we now have the benefits of Jesus.
I’ve come to the realization, just now, that because I Love Jesus and keeping his commands, Jesus has given me his peace. The peace that can calm a storm. The peace under all circumstances.
Prayer:
Jesus thank you for not leaving us as orphans, but coming to us personally. I think you so much for loving us so much that you died so that we could be one with you and the Father. I pray that you help us to realize the magnitude of the Holy Spirit that lives within us. That we depend on the Holy Spirit, just like the disciples depended on you before you ascended to heaven. Please allow this wonderful gift to become so real to us that we acknowledge you in all of our ways. Thank you for giving us your peace, and not the peace of the world.
